Queen Elizabeth II still rules my world by her influence, and, being born in 1990, I’m forever part of her reign. Though she passed away in 2022, her grace remains celestial. I remember the elegant “Diamond Queen” in times of political tension.
This isn’t to say leadership isn’t about muscle and strength. Queen Elizabeth was capable of exhibiting these characteristics, such as when she joined the Armed Services in WWII. I think she was careful, though, about not putting on a display of these qualities to potentially clash with other leaders. Indeed, she was likely calculating in her consideration of others.
Her legacy continues now and in the future because she embodied stability amidst the changes of her time. “Understand the lessons of the past,” she advised. We can take comfort now in the lessons we have learned. So, let’s be graceful to each other in any political climate we are enduring.
